[ The last can of Asahi beer which Wuttin drank in the last night of his Nakanojo Biennale 2019 residency at around 4 am of 25th August 2019 in Nakanojo Gumma Japan, where Shin from Okinawa spent quite some time with him during his stay at Isama Studio Park. The can has traveled from Nakanojo to Chiang Mai. It then traveled from Chiang Mai back to Japan in Okinawa to participate in “HAIKU-Sculpture” exhibition. ]
Letters extracted from surface of the sculpture :
1. Text written by Shin Asato in Nakanojo, Japan :
Hi my friends, how’s your days at there? Are you still fine?
We, Wuttin and Shin, met in a residency program for the group show held in Nakanojo Gumma Japan. In the show, Wuttin made a mixed-media installation titled “Exchange Rate” and Shin made a drawing installation titled “Invisible Outline” by black ink. Shin supported Wuttin’s work as a translator, installer and one of good friends. We drank a lot and exchanged a lot of “Invisible” things through the residency experience. In return for that, Shin started to think about making something memorial. Since Wuttin told Shin that he would join a group show held in Okinawa, Shin’s hometown, Shin asked him to make a collaboration work
This can has traveled from somewhere to Gumma Japan, Chiang Mai Thailand and Okinawa Japan. And it may go to somewhere after arriving at here. It is like a rolling stone. But, you know, sometimes our life could be like a rolling stone if you wish.
This is a letter as a return for my appreciation to you, personal monument of our encounter and play with the form of sculpture.
