“Pareidolic Narrative” (Work-in-Progress) is a mixed-media installation consisting of photographic series, textual objects, sound and AI-generated moving image. Aiming to investigate and raise a question about the creation of history, the project explores how visual traces inscribed in places and the habitude in everyday life, could trigger imagination and memory of each individual. The word “Pareidolic” used in the title, refers to “Pareidolia”, a psychological phenomenon which occasionally occurs when a person sees nebulous visual features which at times lead to astonishing results of interpretation.
The concept of Pareidolia plays crucial roles in the creation process as it will be employed throughout the initial stage of the project in which I will be collaborating with local participants in Nakanojo (Japan), as well as collecting drawings and textual information from them.
