To celebrate 100 years of Thai silk baron, “Jim Thompson”, internationally recognised, Thai-Indian Artist, Navin Rawanchaikul was invited to re-invent a gallery space at Jim Thompson House in Bangkok. The space was filled with various forms of art, painting, comic book, life-size sculpture and etc., including this video which I made in collaboration with Navin, the artist and a co-director, Aphiwat Saengphatthaseema.
Originally, the video was shown on 2 vertically oriented LCD screen, attached to two columns in gallery space, facing each other. To the viewers, the image appeared as if it move from one screen to other one on the opposite side.
The video was constructed from various material, rare archive footage showing Bangkok in the past, video of Bankok at present time, puppet shot on green screen, computer-generated element.
